History of Renshinkai

Renshinkai means "Unity" or "Togetherness"

The concept of Renshinkai was developed by Master Dickie Wu 7th Dan (born 12th of January 1946). In his early years he trained under the late Grandmaster Mas Oyama 10th Dan and Master Steve Arneil 8th Dan. He also trained with the Goju Ryu Master Steve Morris 8th Dan, who was a good friend for many years.

Terry Steward 7th Dan, a karate Master in his own right, a man with great knowledge in martial arts and styles of karate. He began karate at the age of 13 and was trained by Steve Arneil and Bob Bolton. Amongst the various styles he has done, he has achieved a 2nd Dan in Wado Ryu, Goju Ryu and black belt in Kyokushinkai. He has also done Sankinkai, which involves a lot of spinning techniques. He obtained his 3rd Dan in this style and went to France every 2 weeks to train under his teacher in Sakinkai.

A student of these great Masters Abrar Hussain 6th Dan started Karate at the age of 19. He achieved a black belt in Shokukai karate. He trained in Kyokushinkai for over 4 years and is currently a black belt 6th Dan in Renshinkai karate. He strongly believes in the traditional side of karate, the oriental philosophy behind it as well as the strength and practicality of it. To him, karate is a way of life that he could not give up, even during (cancer) illness.

Renshinkai places emphasis on the spiritual and meditative side of the martial arts. It uses breathing exercise of Sanchin Kata and meditation, to establish some soul in Karate which is missing in most western concepts of the martial arts today.
